A swivel flange coupling is a type of pipe joint that allows for rotation and flexibility between connected pipes. It consists of two main parts: the flange hosetail and the swivel flange.
The flange is a flat disk with holes for bolts or nuts and is to be connected to the same counterpart.

This design is particularly useful in industries like oil and gas, where pipelines may need to accommodate shifting conditions such as thermal expansion or ground settlement. 
Swivel flange couplings are also commonly used in plumbing and construction projects to allow pipes to move independently without disconnecting them.

Which type of flanges are there?

Weld Neck Flange: Has a long tapered hub and is used for high-pressure applications.
Slip-On Flange: Slides over the pipe and is welded in place. It's easier to install but less robust than a weld neck flange.
Blind Flange: Used to close the end of a piping system or a vessel opening.
Threaded Flange: Has threads inside the bore and is screwed onto a pipe with matching threads.
Lap Joint Flange: Used with a stub end, allowing for easy alignment and assembly.
